Jeremy Albritton was an All-State catcher at Parklane Academy and made All-Conference as a catcher and outfielder at Southern Miss in the late 1990s.
His son, Crews Albritton, is making some noise of his own as a high school star at Tri-County Academy, especially last week.
The junior pitcher-first baseman had a .714 batting average with five runs scored, two runs batted in, a home run and a double and threw a five-inning, no-hitter to lead Tri-County to a sweep of Winston Academy in the best of three series in the MAIS Class 3A semifinals.
For his outstanding performance, Albritton has been named the Box Sports Academy/Mississippi Scoreboard Metro Jackson Baseball Player of the Week.
Albritton had a double and a single, two runs scored and one RBI in a 7-4 victory over Winston in Game 1 and had a home run and two singles, three runs scored and one RBI and pitched five innings and allowed no runs and no hits with 10 strikeouts in a 11-0 victory in five innings over Winston in Game 2.
“Crews pretty much took the game into his own hands, pitching with a 60 pitch game with 10 strikeouts and two walks while allowing no hits,” Tai-County coach RJ Barrett said. “He also did really well at the plate.”
Albritton is hitting .467 with 44 runs scored, 46 RBIs with 6 doubles and a school-record 14 home runs and has a 6-3 pitching record with a 2.80 earned run average and 84 strikeouts in 46 1/3 innings this season for Tri-County, which has a 25-10 record and a No. 2 ranking in MAIS Class 3A and a No. 42 ranking in Mississippi by MaxPreps.
Albritton has been an MAIS All-State defensive end for the past two seasons and played tight end and helped Tri-County to two MAIS state football championships and one state runner-up finish. He also won the long jump and helped his team win first place in the 400 meter relay at the MAIS state track meet and field meet this spring.
Albritton has multiple Division I and junior college offers in baseball.
Albritton is the son of Jeremy and Shellie Albritton and Misti Albritton. Jeremy was an All-State football and baseball player at Parklane Academy and All-Conference baseball player at Southern Miss. Shellie graduated from Purvis High and Southern Miss. Misti graduated from McComb High School. Albritton has three brothers, Dawson played soccer at Brandon High and Hinds Community College and graduated from Mississippi State and 6 year old twin brothers, Evan and Blake. Tri-County plays at Columbia Academy Thursday at 6 p.m. in Game 2 of the MAIS Class 3A state championship series. Columbia Academy won Game 1 6-4.
