A trio of talented underclassmen – sophomore Madison Booker, freshman Alana Rouser and junior Marian Jenkins –combined for 48 points to lead Germantown girls to a 58-33,Class 6A, Region 3 victory over South Panola Friday night at Germantown.
The 6-foot Booker, rated as one of the top five sophomores in the country, had a game-high 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. The 6-foot Rouser, who started for Germantown last year as an eighth-grader, had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Marian Jenkins, a 5-10 junior who has been selected to play in the Class 6A-5A-4A North-South All-Star Game this year, had 14 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.
Germantown improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in region play this season. South Panola dropped to 7-8 and 0-3.
Rouser scored 14 points in the first half to lead Germantown to a 31-17 halftime lead.
“After we knocked the rust off from a week and a half game brek, we played well,” said Germantown coach Jamie Glasgow, whose last game was against Clinton Jan. 12. “It was a great team effort. I hope we can use this as momentum going into the end of the season.”
Senior Bailey Ware led South Panola with 10 points.
