Jabarie Robinson worked on being a more complete player in preseason workouts for Raymond.
The 6-foot junior guard showed it last week when he averaged 32.5 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and shot 59.5 percent from the field in two victories.
For his outstanding performance, Robinson has been named the Priority One Bank/Mississippi Scoreboard Metro Jackson Boys Basketball Player of the Week.
Robinson scored a career-high 40 points (15 of 22 shots from the field and 8 of 11 from the free throw line) with 10 rebounds and 3 assists to lead Raymond to a 77-60, Class 4A, Region 6 victory over South Pike. He had 25 points (10 of 18 shots from the field and 4 of 6 from the free throw line) with 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a 78-57, 4A-Region 6 victory over Lawrence County.
Robinson is averaging 25.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4 assists for 12-2 Raymond this season going into this week.
“Jabarie is a natural scorer who can get to any shot on the floor, which makes him one of the better guards in the state,” Raymond coach Tony Tadlock said. “We always talk about impacting the game with more than scoring and that was evident by his 8 and 10 rebounds this past week. In the preseason, he worked on being more of a complete player and leader and it has shown so far.”
Robinson averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and led Raymond to a 25-8 record and a Class 4A state runner-up finish last season as a sophomore. He was named to the Priority One Bank/Mississippi Scoreboard Metro Jackson boys basketball team last season.
