Gavin Bledsoe has gotten hot for the Pisgah Dragons in the playoffs, and he was red hot last week.

The senior shortstop and Southwest Mississippi Community College signee hit .667 (6 for 9 at bats) with 7 runs batted in, 5 runs, 3 doubles, and 1 walk to lead Pisgah to two victories over Lake and a sweep in the best-of-three series in the MHSAA Class 2A quarterfinals.

For his outstanding performance, Bledsoe has been named the PriorityOne Bank/Mississippi Scoreboard Metro Jackson Baseball Player of the Week.

Bledsoe is hitting .463 with 52 runs, 34 RBIs, 15 doubles, 2 triples, 12 stolen bases and a .817 on-base percentage this season.
“Gavin was very clutch for us this past week, driving in seven runs with multiple two out hits with runners in scoring position to help our team get two wins,” Pisgah coach Sam Starnes said. “He’s been one of our best hitters all year and has really turned it on in the playoffs. Gavin’s also been solid for us on the defensive side of things, making many plays behind our pitching staff. He works his tail off every day and always supports his teammates to help them be successful as well.”

Pisgah, 24-8, defeated Scott Central 12-1 Thursday in Game 1 of the best-of-three series in the 2A state semifinals at Scott Central in Forest. Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. at Pisgah.
