One of the definitions of the word cash is ready made money to pay on goods and services.

St. Andrew’s junior infielder-outfielder-pitcher Cash Myrick makes his immediate impact playing baseball and did it in a big way last week.

Myrick hit for a .625 batting average (5 for 8 at bats) with 2 home runs, 1 double, 2 singles, 7 runs batted in and 3 runs scored and got a pitching victory against Pisgah in a key MHSAA Class 2A, Region 5 two-game series.

For his outstanding performance, Myrick has been named the Box Sports Academy/Mississippi Scoreboard Metro Jackson Baseball Player of the Week.

Myrick had 2 home runs, 1 single, 6 RBIs, and 2 runs scored and got the pitching save by pitching three innings in a 10-7 victory over Pisgah and had a double and a single and scored a run and had an RBI in a 8-7 loss in eight innings to Pisgah. He also had two singles, two RBIs and scored a run in a 11-1 victory over Quitman in a region game last week.

The region series was a battle between two of the top five rated teams (Pisgah is No. 4 and St. Andrew’s No. 5) in Class 3A in Mississippi according to MaxPreps. Pisgah is also rated No. 31 and St. Andrew’s 42 this week in Mississippi.

Myrick is batting .405 with 33 runs scored, a team-high 38 RBIs, 5 doubles, 2 triples, a team-high 5 home runs and 6 stolen bases this season going into this week for St. Andrews, which has a 21-7 record after Tuesday’s 14-7 victory over Lake.

“Cash is one of two players (second baseman John William Walker) we have left who were a big part of our 2024 championship team,” St. Andrew’s coach Mark Fanning said. “He gained valuable experience that year as a freshman that has carried over to his sophomore and junior year. Cash had some nagging injuries early this season and missed a few games, but has really played well lately, especially last week. He seems to always have his best games in the most important games. Cash hits the ball so hard and has so much bat speed and power that I am too hard on him sometimes when he does get out. He leads our team with five home runs, one of our top pitchers, and plays several different defensive positions. Cash can play all outfield positions, third and first, and play them really well. Some college team is going to get a really good player in the future. His combination of speed and power will translate really well on the next level.”

Myrick is the son of Sharea Milner Myrick and Casey Myrick. Sharea played basketball and tennis and graduated from MRA. She made the MAIS all-star game and won a state title as a senior. Sharea went to Ole Miss and graduated from Mississippi College. Casey played baseball and graduated from Grenada High, was an All-American outfielder at Delta State, won a Gulf South Conference championship and made it to the Division II College World Series semifinals and played one year of minor league baseball with the Jackson DiamondKats. Myrick’s brother, Stone, played baseball at St. Andrew’s and won a state championship as a junior in 2024. He was also named Metro Jackson Player of the Week that year. Stone is attending Holmes Community College and is expected to play in the Hangout League in Pensacola this summer. Myrick’s sister, Jett, is expected to graduate from Ole Miss and a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and ai looking to get into the medical device/pharmaceutical sales industry. She played volleyball and graduated from Madison Central High.
