When the Statesmen take to Parker-McCool Stadium tonight for Delta State’s home-opener, it won’t be just the football team making their season debut. Tonight also marks Mike Kinnison’s first football game as lead man of the DSU Athletic Department. For the past 23 seasons, Kinnison’s name was to the right of Head Baseball Coach, but this year he finds himself atop the staff directory in his first full year as Athletic Director. He resolutely intends to bring that same enviable intensity and fervent passion Statesmen loyalists are used to seeing on the baseball diamond to his new charge. Mississippi Scoreboard recently sat down with Kinnison to further discuss the transition and his goals ahead.
